Kurt Baumann, Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer
Kurt Baumann has founded and run Internet and technology companies since the 1980s. He founded the first commercial ISP in Japan and also launched InterCon Systems, the leading producer of Internet software on the Macintosh, which sold to PSINet in 1995. Mr. Baumann also helped launch Kadoo, a consumer cloud computing company. Previously, he served as the chairman and owner of Inter.net and has also held senior management and chief executive positions at Quintum Technologies, Inter.net Global, PSINet, InterCon Systems, and Learning Tree Software. Mr. Baumann attended the University of Illinois.
Jay Atkinson, Chief Executive Officer
Jay Atkinson is a visionary entrepreneur and the CEO of AIS Network, the premier provider of information security, application development and IT solutions to the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as numerous corporations throughout North America. For more than 25 years, AISN has supported vital infrastructure and highly sensitive data for the government and commercial sectors. Highly regulated enterprise customers in the health care, financial, pharmaceutical and government sectors look to AISN to develop innovative cloud hosting solutions that strengthen compliance, assess complex security threats and risks, and defend highly sensitive digital and physical infrastructures from cyber threats. A former banker, Mr. Atkinson’s passion is driving growth and innovation. He spent his earlier career in financial and operational leadership roles across various industries. Later, as managing partner of a strategic management consulting firm, he advised commercial sector companies on numerous growth and operational issues, including physical and cyber security, risk assessment and crisis management. An expert in strategic repositioning, Mr. Atkinson has also led the successful turnaround of numerous distressed companies. Holding an MBA from Virginia Tech and a CPA, Mr. Atkinson was a finalist for Virginia Business CFO of the Year in 2007. He writes and speaks regularly about cloud hosting and cyber security issues. Mr. Atkinson resides in Richmond with his wife and sons.
Joshua Darrin, Chief Technology and Compliance Officer
Josh Darrin is responsible for overseeing hosting and managed services, fulfillment and delivery for new state government contracts, technical architecture for client solutions and information security and compliance. Previously, he was AISN’s director of operations and compliance for three years until he left in 2015 to join Fíonta as director of engineering, where he was instrumental in increasing revenue, building a large technical team and helping develop an efficient project management structure. Mr. Darrin has more than 25 years of experience, including years spent as a technology entrepreneur. In addition to a variety of technology, development, and cybersecurity startups, his ventures also include The Strand Cybercafe (a full-service restaurant on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor) and Treman Falls Productions (a television production company dedicated to positive impact reality programming.
Laurie Head, Vice President, Marketing Communications
Laurie Head has more than 25 years’ experience in strategic marketing, corporate communications, public relations, and public affairs, including more than 20 years concentrated in the high-tech industry. From start-ups and nonprofits to publicly held companies, Ms. Head has counseled a range of organizations with interests in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Her domestic and international programs have amassed numerous accolades, including the prestigious Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America and a Gold Mercury Award. Ms. Head received an M.A. in political management from The George Washington University and a B.S. in journalism, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland. She resides in Richmond with her husband, sons and golden retriever.
