All About the AISN Cloud Upgrade

Want to know all about the AISN Cloud upgrade? Over Easter weekend, we implemented a pretty major upgrade to our systems — the most extensive upgrade that we have ever done, in fact.

I know you are all technical, so I think you will appreciate the info below.

Here are the major parts that we upgraded:

  1. Upgraded our internal backbone to 10Gbps.
  2. Upgraded our storage systems.
  3. Upgraded some of our Hosts with more memory and CPU.
  4. Added hosts.
  5. Upgraded our firewall.

We nearly rebuilt the underlying infrastructure, which will improve stability and performance of our services.  We replaced older systems and simplified our networking and control systems.

We had a great plan, but as a general once said, “No battle plan survives contact with the enemy.”  Pretty true. Our apologies for the length, but it was necessary. As timing goes, Easter weekend worked out pretty well for most AISN Cloud customers. The pain will, in the end, result in a rock stable environment now with much improved capacity and performance.

Our customers are very important to us, and their experience is very important to us as well.  This is why we decided to invest the time and money into this improvement.  We hope you never have to think about our infrastructure again.  Certainly, we feel that this will result in even less down time in the future.

To prepare for this upgrade and also to improve our customer communication, we added a new staff member, who will be highly focused on staying on top of all outbound communications from the NOC and making sure that tickets get assigned quickly.

Below are some data center photos from the weekend.  Thanks to our customers for their cooperation and patience.
