Washington, DC — July 31, 2017 — AIS Network, an award-winning application developer and secure managed IT services expert serving large enterprises in the government, education and health care industries, international corporations and The Commonwealth of Virginia, announces its participation in the 2017 NCES STATS-DC Data Conference, August 1-3, Washington, DC.

AISN marketing communications chief Laurie Head will be available to meet with attendees at NCES and demonstrate AISN’s award-winning website development work for the Virginia Department of Education.

AISN and VDOE leveraged a full suite of current technology products to update and re-engineer a signature initiative for school transparency and accountability. Users from parents to policy makers can now easily view and compare the performance of Virginia schools via a responsive, accessible website displaying dashboards of current data. The new Virginia School Quality Profiles (SQP) online school report card replaces the agency’s 90’s-era School Performance Report Cards, which provided static PDFs and Excel spreadsheets.

“VDOE’s School Quality Profiles’ website sets the ‘gold standard’ for state school report cards,” said AISN CEO Jay Atkinson.

“VDOE demonstrated a thoughtful marriage of data architecture and information management strategies to make public data more transparent, significant and useful. Using a visually pleasing and technically masterful website, dashboards demystify school data and make it more accessible to students and their parents, school management, policy makers, elected officials, citizens and other stakeholders.”

Recently, VDOE’s SQP received three achievement awards. The National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), the provider of school communication training and services to school leaders throughout the United States, Canada, and U.S. Dependent Schools around the world, awarded VDOE’s SQP with two awards– Golden Achievement Award and an Award of Merit for publications and electronic media.
In May, the Richmond Technology Council —RVATech— presented its public sector Innovation in Utilization award to VDOE for the reports. This award recognizes the creative use of existing technology for the benefit of an organization or the public.

The NCES STATS-DC Data Conference, organized by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences, covers a wide array of topics related to educational data collection and reporting. Sessions will cover Common Core Data, data linking beyond K-12, data privacy, and data quality, standards and use, and the Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS).
Atkinson said AISN is looking forward to introducing VDOE’s website to NCES attendees.
